Modern underground parking at Prayagraj Jn to ease congestion
Underground parking facility is being developed at city side of Prayagraj Junction
Prayagraj: In a major relief for commuters, railway authorities have begun work on a modern underground parking facility at Prayagraj Junction to address chronic congestion on the city side of the station.Passengers approaching the station from Leader Road have long faced traffic snarls due to inadequate parking space. Vehicles parked in the circulating area near the main entrance frequently caused chaos, hampering both vehicular and pedestrian movement.Under the redevelopment plan, a dedicated entry route is being built near the main gate to directly connect Leader Road with the proposed underground parking facility. Officials said this will allow vehicles to access the parking area without crowding station premises or obstructing the main road.Once the new system becomes operational, parking in the circulating area will be completely prohibited. The underground facility will be equipped with modern security measures, including advanced CCTV surveillance and deployment of security personnel, aimed at improving monitoring and reducing the risk of theft or vandalism.
Work on the project has commenced, with excavation currently underway near Gate No. 5 of the station. Heavy machinery, including backhoe loaders, has been deployed at the site.“Once completed, the project will not only ease congestion but also significantly enhance the overall travel experience for passengers at one of the busiest railway stations in the region,” said Amit Kumar Singh, public relations officer, Prayagraj division.
